To troubleshoot MAC laptop issues and connect to Algonquin wireless

  1. Perform the Airport Utility Update. For help, see Airport + Wi-fi support and check recent software updates.
  2. Reboot your laptop.
  3. In Network Preferences, delete all Algonquin SSIDs and 802.1x profiles. This should just be ACGuest, and ACSecure, but may include older networks such as ACStudent or AlgSecureWLAN or AlgPassWLAN.
  4. Open terminal and perform the following commands:
cd ~
mkdir saved-preferences
mv ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.eap.profiles.plist ~/saved-preferences
cd /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
sudo mv * ~/saved-preferences
  1. Reboot your laptop.
  2. Manually connect to wireless (not selecting the ones seen by Airport) to ACGuest or ACSecure SSID, and enter your college username and password.
  3. Accept the certificate when prompted.
You are now successfully connected to Algonquin College wireless!

Alternately, if you try to connect to ACSecure and end up connected to ACGuest, see:
If you can connect to wireless, but keep getting disconnected see: For general help with Algonquin College wireless, see What wireless networks are available on campus?
