I get an error when I try to install Microsoft Office 2013. What can I do?

Instructions
You are unable to install MS Office 2013. The error is error 25004: The product key you entered cannot be used on this machine.

Troubleshooting steps

  • Ensure you do not have multiple copies of Microsoft Office already installed. This can be trial copies or full copies or even failed install attempts. If you do, go to Control Panel > Programs and Features and uninstall them all.
  • Rename the tokens.dat file located in the C:\Windows\System32\spp\store\2.0\ folder.
  • If you are a student, check the steps to install MS Office listed on the Online and Educational Resources website - http://www7.algonquincollege.com/byod/microsoft.htm
