How do I automatically install the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client on PC or MAC?

Note: To connect to either VPN or the Secure portal you must be off-campus.

Note: Use Internet Explorer. Otherwise, the instructions below will be different.


To automatically install the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client

  1. Using any browser, go to the Algonquin Secure Portal and login. For help, see How do I connect to Secure Portal? Note: You will need to accept the security certificate if you haven't been to the Secure Portal before - click Continue to the website.
  2. Enter your college network username and password when prompted.
  3. Select AnyConnect. Note: Read the information displayed on the right column before proceeding. You may need to add our website to your trusted sites, for help see How do I add a secure site to my list of trusted sites?
  4. Select Start AnyConnect.
This will start an automatic install of AnyConnect, if it is not already installed on your system. If the automatic install has problems, you can manually install Cisco AnyConnect VPN client through this page as well.

If you are using a mobile device (Android, iOS or Windows RT), there is no option to install automatically, however the Cisco AnyConnect client may be available in the respective App Stores. For more information, see How do I connect to VPN on an Android device? or How do I connect to VPN on an iOS device?
