What is Blackboard?
Blackboard is the Learning Management System (LMS) used by Algonquin College. It enables faculty and students to communicate and collaborate within a designated course space. Professors can post/send messages to students using the Announcements feature and email. Students can interact with their professor and each other individually or as members of project groups. Furthermore, a number of tracking and assessment tools, such as Quizzes and Surveys, Assignments, the Grade Center, and the Early Warning System are available.
Full and part-time students on campus access Blackboard using https://blackboard.algonquincollege.com.
Students taking online or distance education courses, you will use a different Blackboard System - https://ealgonquin.ca. For support, contact the Online Learning Center at ext.3330.
Why do I need it?
Algonquin College has committed to all students that course materials and learning activities will be made available via the College's LMS. Course outlines, class schedules, course materials and progress reports are to be provided to students through the LMS - Blackboard.
Note: A committee is evaluating a number of potential LMSes the college may adopt to modernize the available LMS. Stay tuned for more information shortly.
